It Sold

Remember the BOLO vintage Monopoly game I posted about a few weeks ago? It sold for my full asking price of $42.99. Yipee!!! I can sure use the cash for Lego land next week.

Here's the trippy thing....the buyer paid $45 to have it shipped overnight. Wow! The even funnier thing is that he was the second buyer to ask for overnight shipping on the game and I've had three requests this week for overnight shipping. In my five years of selling I've never had that request before. To bad you have to pay a commission on shipping.

  1. To help combat the shipping commission I have to pay, I weigh my item (usually lots of children's books) then add one pound for the weight of the box and one pound for the 19 cents it costs for delivery confirmation. That usually brings my cost for shipping about 20 cents below what the buyer has paid so it goes toward the commission. This has greatly improved my accuracy in predicting shipping costs!

    1. Good input. I usually just do actual shipping weight but padding it a bit would certainly help offset the commission the seller pays on shipping costs.

  2. Hi Thrifty Momma! I love your three piggies!
I have a question about this post. If you offer free shipping as your first choice and put an additional service like priority mail in as a second choice with a price, and the buyer chooses the priority mail, do you still pay a fee on the shipping? I think you get the auto 5 stars for free shipping because it's the first choice, but I'm not sure about the fee.
    BTW,thanks for visiting my blog!

    1. I think you still pay the fee Lorraine but I'll have to double check my fees for the listing.
