I sometimes use it, but most often don't as the USPS is not 1 minute from my work. Oh...and sometimes I ship from home and sometimes from work (I own my own business).
But I know that some people has loads and loads of package and don't like them sitting out front for everyone to see.
I use mostly media mail since I sell lots of books so that means I can't schedule a pick up. I live in a safe area and don't really worry about theft, by the way. I WISH I could use USPS pick up!
Diana, I have on occasion been known to upgrade one of my packages to priority if I have a ton of Fitst Class or Media packages going out and no other reason to go by the PO. I figure what I loose in postage I make up for it in savings in gas and time and sanity. As long as one is upgraded they will take it all.
I have only scheduled a pick-up once. My mail carrier forgot to pick up my packages and I had to run him down. (He did say he would have realized it later, and come back for them.)
I do worry a little about theft. I live in a good/safe neighborhood, but get a fair amount of traffic on my street twice a day because we live very close to a middle school. I figure it just takes one person noticing a stack of packages on my doorstep every day . . .
Also, fall has finally hit the PNW. There is no way I could leave packages out for pick-up now. They would be drenched by the rain.
Thankfully, my PO is only about a mile away from my house, and I am usually driving near it anyway. I drop items off every day, but rarely have to make a special trip to do so.

Good point about theft. I had not really thought about that. What is your other job if you don't mind my asking?
DeleteI own a custom portrait studio! :)
DeleteI use it EVERY day. The only time I ever have to go to the post office is if I oversleep and miss my 10AM mail carrier.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you Jessica. I never though about what Margaret said though about possible theft. I have always wondered why so many sellers trek to the PO.

I send my stuff from work. I never have time to go to post office. My mail carrier is really nice. He's always joking with me. I trust him.
