I know most of you follow my Facebook page so you are seeing all the fabulous deals I have been posting and finding but it's been a while since I have shared anything about my adventures in making money.
I have found that I am most focused and productive work wise when I have a clear why, goal or reason I need to focus on generating income. Do you find the same thing?
Well let me start by saying I have not been sharing my selling because until this week its been pretty well....BORING. Profitable but boring. I have been selling on Amazon through their FBA program and its basically buy, ship get paid repeat. Sounds good right???
It usually is but well I have to admit I was slacking. Not focusing enough on getting the right return on my investment ( I look for 100% returns even after fees unless I am certain something is going to sell as soon as Amazon checks it in). The other issue was frankly I was not putting the time into my business in the last month that I had been doing for he first three months of the year. Reselling like most businesses you gout of it what you put into it and I was not putting much into it. I typically was working a 10-12 hour work week in the first quarter and slacked off to 7 hrs a week. Don't get me wrong I was still making a nice hourly wage but I need to bump it up now. Here is why....

Little Fixes Equal Amazon Sales. Getting the Most Out of Your Current Inventory
Well with the holiday selling season here I'm really hoping to ramp up my Amazon business in a BIG way. One of the ways I am doing this is by going back through all my current listings and making sure they are easy to find for buyers. This means going in to my current listings and fixing or updating all the listings that say "quality alert". Listings with quality are not easily found by customers and as of October the 10th many listings with quality alerts will be unavailable to customers until they are brought up to quality standards.
Quality alert does not mean there is an issue with your product. It means there is an issue with the quality of your listing. Missing images, description etc. I just spent my little ones nap time fixing all my listings with quality alerts. Most items were just missing a small detail like description or quantity. I fixed 10 listings in about 15 minutes. Not to shabby of a time investment considering how much money I stand to profit on the sale of these items.
Items deemed unsellable or defective can also eat up a chunk of what should be a good payout. Items can be deemed unsellable for a variety of reasons including packaging, expiration and lots of others little things. I requested all my items that were deemed somehow unsellable to be returned to me. I had a few deemed expired that were multipacks where only one item in the multipack is expired and the rest in the pack are fine. I'm going to replace the one that is expired and send the rest back. I also have found that some items that have been deemed defective for me were deemed defective because the polly bag that I sent them in was to loose or because the bag ripped. I just repackage them correctly and send it right back to Amazon. Time to make the most of your listed inventory so you have more time and money to invest in your holiday inventory.
Sounds like nap time is over. Here's to a great selling season!

Making the Most of Amazon Returns
Amazon will only sell items via FBA that are more than 30 days away from their best buy date. I always have my items sent back to me rather than having Amazon dispose of them. Most of the time the items are in perfect shape and not yet at their best buy date.
When I get the items back I either donate them or we use it at the house. This was a box of returned cookies that made my kids afternoon:)

A Quick Bolo:
Just a quick post on one of my favorite men's items to grab at the thrift and sell on Ebay. Men's ( or ladies) Irish wool sweaters.
I generally pick them up for $6.99 or less and they are always good for at least $50.
Be sure to take good measurements and note any shrinkage you notice. These sweaters are bulky but I can usually get them into a padded flat rate mailer.
